I could re-prime the pump and it would run fine, but the lines would lose prime a short time after stopping usage. I replaced the check valves, and eventually replaced the pump, as it was about 16 years old. WebThe only bit that has to be watertight is from the bottom of the "T" (with the prime plug on top) down to the foot valve. As long as water can't escape the intake line, the pump should stay full of water and won't care if air is able to enter its upstream side, or water can escape its upstream side, or any of that.
